The Oldenbourg Publishing House as one of the most renowned specialist publishing houses is well established in the fields of business/economy and social sciences, humanities, natural sciences and engineering as well as information technology.
The cross-media range of products and services includes books and journals, electronic products and services and is primarily addressed to researchers/scholars, students, lecturers and practitioners.
The Oldenbourg Publishing House publishes more than 300 new publications every year; more than 3,000 titles and 30 journals are constantly in stock.
The Oldenbourg Academic Publishers – knowledge for the future
With its history of more than 150 years, the Oldenbourg Group is amongst the long established companies in the publishing industry. The Oldenbourg Publishing House and the Akademie Publishing House – the Oldenbourg Academic Publishers – support researchers and scientific organisations, interested academics in employment and further education as well as students and lecturers of all institutions of higher education in their professional life and in all learning situations. Our range of products and services covers business/economics and social sciences, humanities including history, philosophy and linguistics, and natural sciences and engineering as well as information technology.
Our partners benefit from our experience in publishing printed books, journals and reference books as well as from our range of e-books and e-journals, from global visibility and open access publications, with which we have embraced the future of scientific publishing.
The Oldenbourg Publishing House and the Akademie Publishing House publish 40 journals and put more than 400 books on the market each year. On the joint content platform, the publishing houses offer access to online journals and e-books on www.oldenbourg-link.com and www.akademie-link.com, which allows for modern scientific research and writing and global visibility of our authors' and editors' works. The content is continuously updated. In addition to new publications various backlist titles are added regularly upon close consultation with partners and authors.
It is due to our history that we are committed to science and academic teaching and offer superior quality at affordable prices. We will continue this tradition with the new e-products and e-services.
Open Access
We take very seriously the interests of our authors, customers and partners from research, education and business. Our open access models ensure an efficient, effective and sustainable provision of scientific information, and respond to the changing needs and demands of authors, researchers/scholars and scientific organisations.
At this stage we offer pure ("golden") open access journals, in the natural sciences with "Zeitschrift fuer Kristallographie – New Crystal Structures“, and in business/economics with "economag".
In addition, we offer the Oldenbourg Open Option for online versions of all journal articles and book chapters that we publish. In this way, the Oldenbourg Academic Publishers - the Oldenbourg Publishing House and the Akademie Publishing House - allow you to publish all your contents through open access, as well as in the classical formats.
With Oldenbourg Open Option, our authors can, for a once-off fee, make their contributions available directly after publication on the platforms oldenbourg-link.com and akademie-link.com. This offer is also open to authors whose contributions have already been published, and who would now like them to appear as open access publications. Please find the fees for this service in the Information for Authors section. Alternatively, you can contact our editorial offices for the terms and conditions of the Oldenbourg Open Option.
Depending on the journal, we also provide our authors the opportunity to publish digital copies of manuscripts (preprints) which have not yet been reviewed, or of articles which have already been reviewed, but not yet set by the publishing house (postprints), on their own websites, on their institution’s website, or on open access repositories (self-archiving). Please see the licensing agreements of the individual titles for the conditions applicable.
We are also pleased to make institutions and associations individual offers on lump sum payments that will then cover or reduce all publication fees for their associated authors (institutional memberships).
Oldenbourg Open Option is available to authors whose contributions have been accepted for publication by the editors and the publishing house. Open Access journal articles are subject to the same peer review procedure as contributions for which Oldenbourg Open Option is not used.
Open access contributions are clearly marked as such at oldenbourg-link.com or akademie-link.com, also - if not already published - in the corresponding print edition.
The copyright rests with the authors. To use Oldenbourg Open Option, you must have entered into a valid license agreement by the time of publication, signed by the parties.
We provide an extensive portfolio of partner solutions for companies, institutions and scientific organisations for the realisation of various open access publication projects. This includes, for example, the establishment of open access journals, open access books, or digital open access editions.
